Abstract
The gold that the United Arab Emirates reports importing from Mali appears to be markedly higher than what Mali reports exporting to that country. Using the mirror statistics method, the note compares the two data series, measures the gap over 2013-2022 and for 2024, and examines what it implies for the traceability of artisanal production and for public revenue.
